Alger Adventures Tandem Team at Moab

Hosted Rides, Tours, and Adventures -  Alger Style!

Michigan Coast Riders is now Alger Adventures! We're carrying on the tradition of fun, well-planned, hosted rides and tours where we do all the work (except the pedaling) so you can have all the fun. We offer 4 main types of rides:

Weekly Rides - These are the traditional "Shop Rides" that Alger has previously offered. Instead of starting and finishing at the shop we'll meet at a variety of parks, coffee shops, breweries and trailheads - allowing us to offer a wide range of routes and keep it fresh! These rides utilize everything from paved paths to open roads. Ride Leaders will be in attendance and no one will be left behind.

The Cruise – Random, mellow, co-ed versions of the Weekly Rides that we've added based on popular demand. These are casual rides utilizing our great network of paved bike trails. Expect 15-20 miles at a relaxed pace. Ride Leaders will be in attendance and no one will be left behind.

One-Day Classics – Adventures that can range from 40-100+ miles and have a greater amount of support in the form of a SAG wagon in case of trouble, snack stops and lunch @ the 1/2 way point. These rides will introduce you to some new paved bike paths in West Mi and are staffed by 2 Ride leaders and a SAG driver. Ride at your own pace and see new sights!

Alger Adventures Tours – Multi-day, fully-hosted and guided tours completely supported and prepared by the pros at Alger Bikes. Designed to take all of the fuss out of planning routes, accommodations, and meals on some of the most beautiful rides in unique destinations all over the country. These rides will range from roads to bikepaths to gravel to off-road (sometimes all on the same trip!).

The Saturday Morning Ride

Departing at 8:00am - various locations.

This is our 40- to 45-mile ride and is designed for folks comfortable riding on open roads in a group. The pace is "athletic yet friendly" (around 15-16mph overall) and we can always split into 2 groups depending on the size and preferences of the pack. There will be a Ride Leader and someone riding "sweep" to ensure that no one gets dropped. The average "SMR" covers 40-45 miles and may or may not include a planned stop.

New to the idea of "taking a tour"? Never fear - the "Classics" are here. These rides will give you a feel for what it's like to be on some of our longer rides (like the GAP Ride) w/ our support crew at your disposal, lunch at the halfway point and snack stops along the way.

Stanton–Alma One-Day Classic Ride, June 13, 2021

Distance - Up to 58 miles

We'll be utilizing the "Rail Trails" here in Michigan. These trails follow old RR right of ways that have been refurbished for non-motorized traffic. In general they're paved but you'll also encounter some crushed limestone here and there.  Most travel through the countryside in pretty much straight lines and are fairly flat for the most part - ensuring that the miles pass by quickly as you chat w/ others and enjoy the scenery!

Road, hybrid, or gravel bikes are the best choice.
